Film Photos From 2019

Quick note: I've been posting random bits on this blog since 2016. This 2021, I'll use this blog to dump random photos from my cameras and phone.

It took 2 years and a pandemic for this film to see the light. These photos were taken around August- September 2019.  Looking at these photos solidified my decision to spend more time this summer understanding the sorcery behind manual cameras.

This was taken at a Bingsu store somewhere in Makati.

I'm surprised to find this photo since it was only last year when this album became a favourite. In the past, I never really gave much thought about this except for 2 love songs found on its Side A and its captivating album cover.

This is an album cover of a  song I was watching on youtube.

My Museum Story

It was the 29th of February, a day that happens once every four years.  It was a spontaneous Saturday, and the only things that weren’t were my decision to go to The National Museum and spend the afternoon wandering its halls and wondering about the works of Amorsolo.

A Leap Year luck came when, as I was writing my name on the registration, I saw a paper that invites visitors to join a free-walking tour about the history and architecture of the building. I knew the moment I saw it that Amorsolo would understand if I’ll spend lesser time admiring his works, and more time imagining myself as one of those people from the prewar Manila.

To say that the experience was surreal is an understatement. Listening to our guide whilst looking at the sculptures in the Old Senate Session Hall made me appreciate the people who spent and are spending their lives doing works that reflect the ideals of a nation. As a teacher, I was challenged to use my profession to enlighten my students of the ideals we uphold as a nation and why we must protect it at all cost. When we reached the topmost floor of the building and granted access to see the city from that point of view, all I was thinking was claiming the afternoon as one of the most memorable.  While looking at the Philippine flag dancing with the wind, I promised myself to come back again as soon as possible.

This unprecedented time postponed my plans of going back to the museum and joining the tour. I am unsure of when I’ll be able to go back, but the pictures I took from that afternoon are reminders of that one beautiful, sunny, and informative Saturday at The National Museum of Fine Arts.
